We are happy to say that French Press Lounge is back in action with the latest from Orlando's own Blair Sound Design, a four tracker aptly titled "4-In-1."

Kyle Lyon has had a wee obsession with the history and spoils of bootleg ephemera within and surrounding underground dance culture, video games, and consumerist visual culture at large. Whether it be an absurdly good unlicensed remix on a mysterious white label, an old RPG soundtrack from a long-defunct NES game developer or a remarkably "bad" utilization of classic house tropes, there lies a beguiling sense of charm and humanness in such things appropriated with creativity and love for the medium.

Returning under the Blair Sound Design name after releasing "Console Humidity" in 2018 with Lobster Theremin, Lyon begins to unload the multitude of sketches and tracks from the last 4 years that aim to explore and marry the crossover point of classic house stylings and illegal instances of entertainment technology. "4-In-1" is perhaps the most tool oriented selection in this coming wave, with a focus on wildly, loosely swung percussive maneuvers, scant use of melody, a drop of piano chords, decidedly busted sampling mechanics and big emphasis on his signature "8-Bit 808" sub-bass, culled from the Nanoloop Mono synthesizer cartridge using his own DMG-01 Gameboy handheld game system.

Rough, ready, and kind of annoying: "4-In-1" feels like an honest attempt to celebrate and crystallize the nascent thrill of electronic (re)production in an age of technological democratization and a culture obsessed with the notion of authenticity and the self, inherent or fabricated. As was once said,

"You see, HOUSE is a FEELING...."
"House Music ALL Night Long!!!"
"Ooo, baby!"
