Sliding into French Press Lounge's second 12" in a reasonably priced used car on rain-soaked tarmac is Hollywood, FL producer SAKI, bringing us "Wet N' Wild."

Known for his famously crispy, nearly-obliterated sound and rude-dude attitude, SAKI pulls down the gain (and the sun shades) to provide four hazy coastal house tools fit to blast over the comm system above the lazy river, relying on a no-frills hardware setup (homie needs floppy discs to even play a track!) and a rough-and-ready live recording policy, complete with abrupt endings.

The rhythms and sounds on "Wet N' Wild" come together in a classic way, reminiscent of work released through labels such as Trax Records with smackin' resonant toms, lush pads, dextrous hi-hats and bouncy sub-aquatic basslines, all at a brisk median pace of 120 bpm.

Rather than mere pastiche, however, these tracks embody the watery signifier of "swamp techno": SAKI cultures a humid atmosphere, whether its an acid egg crackling on the pavement ("Lazy Summer Days"), a dissonant, dubby heatstroke ("Afternoon") or waking up at the crack of dawn to hop on your pals airboat, blowing deep into the mangroves of the Everglades ("Rise N' Shine").

Regardless of whether you're easin' in an inner tube or kickin' it with a gator (or both), these are slick, sentimental dance tunes made for those in search of the "Real Florida" underground.
